The flowering period is generally from late February to early March. This kind of plum blossom has strong double petals, and one small flower can even have 45 petals. It was discovered by Academician Chen Junyu in Meihua Mountain, Nanjing in 1993. A few years later, in 1998, Academician Chen was appointed as the "International Registration Authority of Plum Varieties" by the International Horticultural Society. This was also China's first variety registration authority in the field of plants. Plum was officially called the Chinese pinyin (Mei) in a foreign language for the first time. When he made it known to the world, "Biejiao Wanshui" became the first variety he registered.
